Is Gwen Stacy on her way to the MCU? The working title for Spider-Man 4 has set the internet ablaze with speculation about the upcoming sequel.
After years of literal silence, news is finally starting to trickle out about Spider-Man 4. The long-awaited sequel is finally ramping up production for a 2026 debut on the MCU’s slate. In doing so, the studio has created a working title for the project called Blue Oasis, being developed under the production company Blaze Film Inc., the same production company used by to film Nicolas Cage’s Ghost Rider film.
While working titles often mean nothing, with the MCU previously using ones like Fall of George and Bosco for Spider-Man: Far From Home and Goat Rodeo for The Marvels, some fans believe this working title may reveal a key plot point for Spider-Man 4. Specifically, theorizers believe that the title is meant to be a reference to Spider-Man: Blue, a comic that retold the story of Gwen Stacy and Peter Parker falling in love.
The Hidden Story Of Spider-Man 4
If one is to continue down the road that the working title of Spider-Man 4 holds hints of a story, more can be gleamed than just Gwen Stacy’s debut in the MCU. An oasis is a faux paradise created by dessert illusions. Given the production company was also used for Ghost Rider, a movie whose villain was the son of Mephisto, it’s possible that the project could be a loose adaptation of One More Day where Peter is shown a world where he was never Spider-Man.
This would line up with rumors that Spider-Man 4 would be taking place between MCU tentpole projects like Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. A false reboot featuring Gwen Stacy and a life without Spider-Man could be the perfect way to keep the film relevant to the multiverse saga while also managing to keep it grounded just like fans have been begging for.
Spider-Man 4 will swing into theaters July 24, 2026. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding Spider-Man’s Marvel Cinematic Universe future and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
