The tale of Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse is a tale of hubris. Fans packed the theaters nearly two years ago to see Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse with high expectations, only for those expectations to be met with a thrilling animated film that ended in a nail-biting cliffhanger. The sweetest part? The sequel and final installment to the trilogy had a release date slated for the following year.
However, as the months went on, news about Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse became sparse. Worries began to mount as news about the working conditions on Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse began to come out, revealing that the film was crafted down to the wire. This all culminated with the sequel being indefinitely delayed, and its release date being taken off the schedule.
When Is Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse Coming Out?
This drought of news has officially come to an end. During the Sony Pictures panel at CinemaCon, it was revealed that Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse has finally found its release date. The animated sequel will be swinging into theaters June 4, 2027. While certainly a long wait, it is a shorter span of time than fans had to wait between the first and second movies.
Much of the cast from the prior Spider-Verse movies are slated to return in Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse. Shameik Moore will reprise his role as Miles Morales alongside Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen Stacy. Plot details about the sequel are currently unclear, though co-writer Phil Lord teased that the project will be “bigger than the last two”, with it serving as a “MASSIVE finale” for the franchise. However, given many fans doubted the sequel would ever come out, this release dare is more than enough to keep fans fed!
