Memorials for Stan Lee and Reg E. Cathey have been restored to their Marvel shows on Disney Plus.
Marvel’s TV series including Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Defenders and The Punisher have moved away from their original home of Netflix, to their new streaming home of Disney Plus. Since then, viewers have had the chance to see some of the minor changes that have come as a result of the move to a different service.
A particular change in both The Punisher and Luke Cage caught some people off guard, especially since there seemed to be no justifiable reason as to why this change occurred. The Season 2 finale of The Punisher originally featured a title card that reads, “In loving memory of Stan Lee,” whereas a title card originally featured in the Season 2 finale of Luke Cage reads, “In Memoriam. Reg E. Cathey. Forward Aways.” Both these dedications were removed for an unknown reason, but have since been restored on Disney Plus.
Compared to the apparent, and somewhat humorous changes made in Marvel’s Netflix shows since their move to Disney Plus, the removal of the dedications to both Stan Lee and Reg E. Cathey was pretty bizarre, with Luke Cage showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker criticizing the decision. Thankfully, it has been restored for the respective series and viewers to honor their memory.

Former marine-turned-vigilante Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) has been living a quiet life on the road until he suddenly becomes embroiled in the attempted murder of a young girl (Giorgia Whigham). As he is drawn into the mystery surrounding her and those in pursuit of the information she holds, Castle attracts a new target on his back as new and old enemies force him to confront whether he should accept his destiny and embrace a life as “The Punisher.”
