The upcoming Disney Plus Star Wars series, Ahsoka, has officially entered production today, as confirmed by an image shared to social media teasing the upcoming project.
Ahsoka will follow its titular Jedi, who was last seen appearing opposite Luke Skywalker in a surprise cameo in The Book of Boba Fett. Rosario Dawson is reprising the role of Ahsoka Tano in the series, having previously played the character in both The Book of Boba Fett and The Mandalorian. Ahsoka was originally voiced by Ashley Eckstein in the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. While the plot of Ahsoka has been kept under wraps, the series is expected to follow the character after the events of The Mandalorian and Book of Boba in her hunt for Grand Admiral Thrawn.
The first behind-the-scenes look at Ahsoka was shared on the official Star Wars Twitter account. In a post that confirmed the series “starts production today,” the Star Wars account unveiled an image of a director’s seat, presumably belonging to Dave Filoni. Filoni was the executive producer of The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels who was responsible, at the behest of George Lucas, for introducing the character of Ahsoka. Filoni is rarely seen without his trademark Stetson, which is shown in the picture on the back of the director’s seat. The hat also bears a pin shaped like a wolf, an animal Filoni is known to have a fondness for, leading to the introduction of the Loth-wolves in Rebels. Check out the post below:
The next live-action Star Wars series to debut on Disney Plus will be Obi-Wan Kenobi, which sees Ewan McGregor’s return to the Star Wars franchise, followed by Andor. No release date has been confirmed as of yet for Ahsoka, but it could arrive early next year as filming is now underway.
Rosario Dawson most recently appeared as Ahsoka Tano in The Book of Boba Fett. Here is the synopsis for the Disney Plus original Star Wars series:
The Book of Boba Fett, a thrilling Star Wars adventure, finds legendary bounty hunter Boba Fett and mercenary Fennec Shand navigating the Galaxy’s underworld when they return to the sands of Tatooine to stake their claim on the territory once ruled by Jabba the Hutt and his crime syndicate.
Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Robert Rodriguez, and Kathleen Kennedy are all executive producers on The Mandalorian spin-off with episodes directed by Rodriguez, Favreau, Filoni, and Bryce Dallas Howard. The series stars Temuera Morrison, Ming-Na Wen, and Jennifer Beals.
The series is currently streaming on Disney Plus. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the new Star Wars series, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
