Star Wars: Possible Title For James Mangold’s Jedi Origin Movie Revealed

"James Mangold's Jedi Prime is set thousands and thousands of years before [the original trilogy]," producer Simon Emanuel says

James Mangold Star Wars Dawn of the Jedi

Last year during Star Wars: Celebration, when James Mangold’s Star Wars project was first announced, fans were shocked when it was revealed it would take place in a brand new segment of the mythos before the Old Republic, known as the Dawn of the Jedi. While fans were teased that the film would be set 25,000 years ago and focus on the first Jedi to use the Force, it wasn’t exactly clear what that meant. Luckily, the Logan director has revealed what attracted him to the project and his goal to make the “Ten Commandments” of the Force:

“For me, it’s about, I want to be part of the saga, but I also don’t want to be holding so much lore in the air that you can hardly tell a story,” Mangold tells Gizmodo. “And what I really wanted to do, what I told her, was just can we make a kind of the Ten Commandments of the Force, you know? A kind of origin story of how the Force came to be known, understood, wielded, and harnessed.”

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and The Acolyte producer Simon Emanuel possibly revealed the new title in a new interview with SFX.

“James Mangold’s Jedi Prime is set thousands and thousands of years before [the original trilogy],” Emanuel said, “and I’m really excited to see what happens there.”

The Jedi Prime

The lore surrounding the founding of the Jedi Order points to a pivotal figure known as the Prime Jedi.

According to Fandom, “The Prime Jedi was an individual who became the first Jedi to ever use the Force. The Prime Jedi was also the founder of the Jedi Order. The Prime Jedi established the Order on the planet Ahch-To, around 25,025 BBY. The first Jedi Temple, which was located on Ahch-To, contained a mosaic of the Prime Jedi in a state of meditation and balance. During the High Republic Era, the Meditation Chamber located on the space station Starlight Beacon also featured a mosaic of the Prime Jedi.”

Sounds pretty cool. Mangold is currently shooting his Bob Dylan biopic with Timothy Chalamet. It is expected once he is done he will pivot to Jedi Prime and Swamp Thing.
