Star Wars: Kevin Feige Teases His Film Will Explore New People & Places

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige is eager to utilize his storytelling prospects in the Star Wars universe with a new film he pitched to Lucasfilm that is now in development.

Just when you thought Kevin Feige couldn’t get any busier given his role with the Marvel Cinematic Universe both on the big and small screens, he seems pretty excited to explore the Star Wars franchise with his own sensibilities. Kevin Feige has admitted that he is a massive fan of Star Wars and now we have heard his first comments on his planned Star Wars film.

In an interview with Awards Chatter, Kevin Feige briefly teased what fans can expect his new Star Wars film would look like, and it appears that he will be exploring new characters and settings separate from the iconic Skywalker Saga:

“I love that world and I love the notion of exploring new people and new places in that universe. But that’s sort of all that can be said for now.”

Obviously, Kevin Feige and Lucasfilm are in the earliest stages of development on this new Star Wars film, so it’s no surprise that he won’t reveal any explicit details at this time, especially given that he is focused on the MCU Phase 4 slate that includes new Disney+ shows to expand the canon.

Given Kevin Feige’s unprecedented success producing the films of the MCU, it’s not that surprising to see that he is now in discussion with Kathleen Kennedy and Lucasfilm about a future Star Wars film. Disney CEO Bob Iger recently announced that the franchise’s theatrical films will be on hiatus after the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, and with the departure of Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss from their planned new trilogy, it is unknown whether or not the first new Star Wars film post-The Rise of Skywalker will be the first entry of Rian Johnson’s planned trilogy or if it will be Kevin Feige’s project.

Either way, Kevin Feige remains one of the most accomplished producers in the industry today, and given his proven track record with the MCU, it’s understandable why Kathleen Kennedy and Lucasfilm are welcoming him into the Star Wars universe.
