Lucasfilm may have plans to explore a new Jedi Order in new Star Wars stories set after the Sequel Trilogy.

Nearly three years after its conclusion, the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy is still subject to much debate amongst fans of the iconic franchise. Although the films (with the exception of The Rise of Skywalker) received mostly positive reviews from critics, fans were seemingly polarized right down the middle, particular with both The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker. Although the trilogy looked to conclude the episodic Skywalker Saga, it still left the door open for future stories exploring the film’s surviving characters, including Rey Skywalker (Daisy Ridley) and the newly-established Jedi Order.

Former Vanity Fair reporter Joanna Robinson made an appearance on The Ringer-Verse Podcast, in which she stated that she has heard “whispers” that Lucasfilm was both interested in and actively developing towards a new Jedi Order that evolves from some of its more antiquated ways. This new Jedi Order would likely be established sometime after the events of the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy.

Given the polarized reception that the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy received, it looked like Lucasfilm was looking to focus more on their successful Disney Plus series The Mandalorian as well as its subsequent spinoffs like The Book of Boba Fett and Ahsoka. While there are a vocal group of Sequel Trilogy critics that hope Lucasfilm will either actively avoid that era or in perhaps the most ridiculous terms, retcon the entire era, there are many fans that have responded to the new films and would like to see a new Jedi Order further explored.

Interestingly enough, it was reported that back in November, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy revealed that there are plans for more stories centered on the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy characters. Whether or not these stories will be told on the big screen or through Disney Plus shows remains a mystery, but either way, fans of the galaxy far, far away have plenty of exciting new stories to be told in the near future.

Here is the synopsis for Lucasfilm’s newest Star Wars Disney Plus series, The Book of Boba Fett:

The Book of Boba Fett, a thrilling Star Wars adventure, finds legendary bounty hunter Boba Fett and mercenary Fennec Shand navigating the Galaxy’s underworld when they return to the sands of Tatooine to stake their claim on the territory once ruled by Jabba the Hutt and his crime syndicate.

Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Robert Rodriguez, and Kathleen Kennedy are all executive producers on The Mandalorian spin-off with episodes directed by Rodriguez, Favreau, Filoni, and Bryce Dallas Howard. The series stars Temuera Morrison, Ming-Na Wen, and Jennifer Beals.

The series is currently streaming on Disney Plus. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the future of the Jedi Order in Star Wars, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
