It’s a rumble in the jungle between Superman and Lex Luthor! A new BTS image gives fans their first look at David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult together on set.
Even though the film is still a few months out, fans have gotten quite a bit from Superman. From trailers, to fresh looks at new characters, to even set leaks about potential adversaries. However, the one thing that fans have yet to see is a proper confrontation between Superman and Lex Luthor. In fact, aside from cast selfies, David Corenswet’s hero has yet to even be seen in the same scene as Nicholas Hoult’s bald billionaire.
This deficit seems to be something the studio wanted to remedy. Collider recently released an exclusive BTS image from production, showing David Corenswet’s Superman across from Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor. While it’s not exactly clear what the context of the scene is, what is clear is that the actors seem to be having absolute blast on set.

Is Lex Luthor The Villain Of Superman?
Most people expect the main villain of the film to have a lot of scenes squaring off with the protagonist. However, given the seemingly sparse amount of screen time shared by David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult, it seems as though James Gunn has an entirely different plan for Superman. Especially since he has made it clear that Lex Luthor will be the main villain of the upcoming film.
The common thread that can be tied between plot rumors from Superman is that Lex Luthor will be the villain of the film, but not directly. Rather, he’ll continually throw obstacles in Superman’s way, resulting in something akin to the Twelve Labors of Superman. If this speculation is true, this BTS image likely comes from one of the final scenes of the film, where David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult’s characters meet in-person for the first time.
