Superman sounds amazing so far! A description of the CinemaCon exclusive footage from the DC Universe film has surfaced online.
All eyes were on CinemaCon this past week, with fans expecting major news out of the DC Universe. While projects like Clayface and Sgt. Rock were expected to make an appearance, many fans were convinced that Superman would be making a big splash at the conference. Sadly, the only thing of substance that seemed to come out of the panel was an exclusive bit of footage shown only to attendees in Las Vegas, where it was held.
That being said, just because there weren’t any groundbreaking revelations doesn’t mean that CinemaCon didn’t bring interesting news. The description of the footage shown off for Superman certainly gives fans some interesting tidbits to chew on. Namely, it expands upon one of the first scenes shown off from the DC Universe’s debut film: Krypto the Superdog saving the titular Man of Steel in the Arctic.
“Superman crashes into snow on the ground. He wheezes and bleeds,” The Hollywood Reporter describes in a social media post about the CinemaCon footage. “He whistles for Krypto. Krypto gleefully jumps all over him, causing more pain. Krypto tries to play. ‘Krypto, take me home,’ Superman says. Krypto licks his face. Krypto runs circles around him before finally grabbing his cape with his mouth and dragging him across the snow.”
“A fortress rises from the ground in an icy formation and the pair go inside. Robots lift Superman and carry him. Superman thanks them, the robot states ‘There is no need to thank us as we will not understand.’ They examine him in a medical office. They blast him with sunlight and Superman screams.”
What Superman Footage Was Shown At CinemaCon?
Perhaps the most noteworthy part of the Superman footage shown at CinemaCon is that there are multiple robots taking care of the Man of Steel in the Fortress of Solitude. A single robot was seen in the original trailer for the project, which many assumed to be Kelex, a Kryptonian service droid owned by the House of El. If this description is accurate, it seems as though James Gunn is preparing to introduce a swathe of service droids into the DC Universe (even if most of them likely won’t be surviving to the end of the film).
The other interesting part about the service droids in the footage description is that they seem to not understand emotions. It’s an interesting note to call out, especially when Superman has been described as being a journey of hope. Most likely, this CinemaCon clip takes place early on in the film. And when the robot is destroyed, such as in the earlier trailer, the droids will either have a revelation about thanking the Man of Steel, or Superman himself will learn something new about saving people even if they don’t have the emotions to understand what you’re doing. This could potentially tie into the final fight of the film, which is reported to be against an evil clone of the character created by Lex Luthor.
Superman is currently scheduled to hit theaters on July 11, 2025. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the DC Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
