Is Krypto the best boy in the DC Universe? Superman’s true best pal took over the Puppy Bowl in a series of ads, alongside a slew of new merch showcasing the Superdog in the film!

The DC Universe seems to be leaning heavily into its comic roots, perhaps more so than any other attempt at a franchise of comic book adaptations before it. This was incredibly prevalent through the production and in the trailer for Superman, with everything from the mighty villain Lex Luthor to Superman’s kiss curl being kept in tact. Though perhaps the most exciting for longtime fans of the character is the live-action debut of Krypto the Superdog on the silver screen.

Superman isn’t trying to hide the fact that it features a dog that can shoot lasers, either. Krypto has been at the forefront of marketing for the DC Universe’s upcoming film, being the center of the second ever image for the production alongside David Corenswet. This reached a fever pitch this past weekend during the Puppy Bowl, with Krypto taking over the show and being featured in quite a few ads to help promote the upcoming film.

Krypto Stuns In New Superman Merch

James Gunn isn’t content plastering Krypto’s face all over ads for Superman. The Superdog has even found his way onto the merch! During the Puppy Bowl, a whole slew of new merch featuring the Kryptonian Canine went up for sale. This includes a variety of shirts, mugs, posters, and even a bandana for dogs who want to cosplay as the Mutt of Steel!

Krypto is already gearing up to be a face of the new DC Universe. The Puppy Bowl won’t be the actor’s only appearance this year, either. Following their role in Superman, the Superdog is heavily rumored to play a starring role in the upcoming Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow movie. While it’s unclear if they’ll continue to play a role in any future movies, especially given none have been greenlit yet, it’s certain he’ll at least be remembered for years to come.

Superman is currently scheduled to hit theaters on July 11, 2025. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the DC Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
