The first Superman trailer gave fans a thrilling first look at James Gunn’s vision for the DC Universe’s iconic hero. Now, two newly surfaced images from the theatrical version of the trailer have offered additional glimpses of key characters, Mr. Terrific and Lex Luthor, who are expected to play significant roles in the DCU movie.
The first image showcases Edi Gathegi’s Mr. Terrific, fully suited up and ready for action, marking the hero’s official live-action debut in the DC Universe. Meanwhile, Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor exudes menace in the second image, wearing sunglasses and walking alongside an enigmatic, masked character, believed by many to be the DC Comics villain Ultraman (something that remains unconfirmed)

The trailer has dominated online conversations as James Gunn and Peter Safran prepare to launch the DC Universe on the big screen. Following the release of the animated series Creature Commandos on Max, Superman is poised to set the tone for the reimagined cinematic universe in his first cinematic solo outing since 2013’s Man of Steel.
What to expect from James Gunn’s Superman movie
Corenswet steps into the role of Superman, taking over from Henry Cavill, who portrayed the character in Zack Snyder’s DC Extended Universe. Rachel Brosnahan joins him as Lois Lane, alongside a star-studded cast that includes Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor and Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific. James Gunn, known for his distinct blend of humor and emotion in superhero projects like Guardians of the Galaxy and The Suicide Squad, writes and directs the film.
Superman is a much-anticipated project, given that Clark Kent has been an integral part of the DC Universe for over 80 years, with various iterations and adaptations across different media. The movie promises to explore the character’s origins and his struggles to balance his dual identities as Clark and Superman while fighting off villains and saving the world.
Superman is currently scheduled to hit theaters on on July 11, 2025. Stay tuned for more updates as the DC Universe continues to unfold.
