How far is Superman through filming? James Gunn reveals how far into production they are on the DC Universe’s debut project.

James Gunn has recently taken over the streets of Cleveland to film scenes for his upcoming Superman film. While fans have been enjoying the many set photos that have found their way online from the DC Universe production, it seems they won’t be around much longer. According to Gunn, the project has officially finished shooting in Cleveland.

“We are not done shooting,” Gunn explained in a recent post on Threads. “Still a couple weeks left. Just done shooting in Cleveland. And yeah it’s a long shoot… but we’re getting close!!”

While it’s a shame that fans won’t be able to walk the streets of Metropolis anymore, it’s exciting to hear that Superman only has a few weeks left to film. While James Gunn still has to handle post-production and any potential reshoots for the project, this brings fans one step closer to seeing the DC Universe back on the big screen.

James Gunn Sings Cleveland’s Praises

So often, modern Hollywood movies are filmed in backlot warehouses or green screens. However, it seems James Gunn has loved getting the chance to film on the busy streets of Cleveland just as much as fans have loved having him there. In another Threads post, he would explain how impactful it was seeing all of the extras enjoying their time in the DC Universe on Superman.

“#Cleveland – today we are leaving you after six amazing weeks of shooting. From the moment we first came here on a scout a tad less than a year ago and Terminal Tower was lit up with the colors of Superman, I knew you were a special place. I would walk down your streets and someone would stop me and tell me how grateful they were we were shooting in their city – not once, not twice, but dozens of times.”

“The wonderful background actors on the film were always so fun and funny and they clapped after takes, something that reminded us Hollywood cynics why we make movies in the first place. The pride you feel in being where Jerry and Joe first created Superman was invigorating. You exemplify his spirit. But just as much it’s the pride you have in your community, your hometown, your radio stations and restaurants and gathering places that touched me.”

“Every city would be so lucky to have people that loved their city as much as you. You simply couldn’t have been more wonderful, kind, or accommodating to me and our performers and crew. Thank you a thousand times over for being our friends and partners on this film. Much love to you all.🙏🧜‍♂️❤️”

It’s nice to hear that James Gunn was able to have such an impactful time creating Superman. It’s sure that the DC Universe will be touching the hearts and minds of millions of fans across the globe. To hear that even the filming of the movie is enough to bring smiles to people’s faces is a sign of a true group of heroes, both in front of and behind the camera!
