Superman has finally hit theaters. And whether you’re doing a quick Google search before the car ride over, or hastily checking your phone at the movie theater urinal, there’s one question on everyone’s mind: how many post-credits scenes are there? That question is followed closely by another, and perhaps just as important, inquiry about what they mean for the broader DC Universe going forward.
For those that just want an answer: it’s two. Superman has two post-credits scenes, one after the vanity credits and one long after the proper credits roll. If you don’t want to be spoiled about the contents of the post-credits scenes, it’s probably best you shut the article now and go refill your popcorn!
The Post-Credits Scenes Of Superman
As for what the post-credits scenes for Superman contain, they’re not so massive that fans will be kicking themselves if they leave to get to the car before the major rush. The first proper post-credits scene in the entire DC Universe is a short shot of Superman and Krypto sitting on the moon and looking out over Earth. While it doesn’t provide any major revelations, it is a soothing palette cleanser for such a bombastic film.
As for the second of the two post-credits scenes, there is a bit more meat on the bone. It focuses on the aftermath of the climax in Superman, with Metropolis having been literally cleaved in two by an interdimensional rift created by Lex Luthor. The scene shows the DC Universe’s two biggest heroes, Superman and Mister Terrific, looking at a building that isn’t put together quite right: one of side being just slightly closer to the road than the other.
Superman remarks about this minor blunder to Mister Terrific. The two have some banter, with Mister Terrific remarking that he can’t just rebuild a building before storming off. The final of the two post-credits scenes end with Superman remarking to himself that he feels he can be such a jerk sometimes, bookending the DC Universe debut with a small bit of levity.
