The villain for Superman has finally been revealed! A new rumor teases David Corenswet’s true adversary in the upcoming DC Universe film.
While fans have been spoiled with casting, details about the plot of Superman have been rather sparse. Many assumed that Lex Luthor would be the main antagonist given no other major DC villains had been cast, but there was little to truly go off of when it came to speculation. This left fans to beg for any news about who David Corenswet would be fighting in the upcoming reboot. It seems the answer is himself!
A new rumor by Hollywood insider CanWeGetSomeToast suggests Superman will feature an evil clone of the titular hero played by David Corenswet himself. However, the clone won’t be Bizarro but rather Gunn’s take on Ultraman. The villain will be a near-perfect recreation of the iconic character made by Lex Luthor after stealing some of his DNA.
The Inspiration Behind Superman‘s Clone
This decision is ripped straight from All-Star Superman, which seems to be the comic that had the biggest influence on David Corenswet’s version of the character. In the comic, Leo Quintum used Superman’s DNA combined with Lois Lane’s to create a perfect clone to replace the Man of Steel.
This also mimics a plotline from Superman IV: A Quest For Peace. In the original plot of the film, Nuclear Man was originally created by using Superman’s DNA. While it’s not likely David Corenswet will be facing off against Nuclear Man, this connection does bolster the rumor’s credibility due to a recent post by insider Daniel Richtman, hinting that Gunn’s Superman is a “remake” of A Quest For Peace.
Superman is currently scheduled to hit theaters on July 11, 2025. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the DC Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
