Many assumed that he would be the the leader of the “Justice Gang” in the film, especially as the logo confirmed to belong to the DC Universe’s Lord Tech appears on all of the members’ suits. This would make Maxwell Lord a prominent player in Superman, potentially positioning him as the third pole of the film.

The latest rumor about Superman goes in the face of this commonly held belief. Scooper MyTimeToShineHello recently shared some new information about Sean Gunn’s role in the film on social media. According to them, Maxwell Lord is only set to appear in one scene in Superman, tagging a jab at the DC Universe’s true first villain: Lex Luthor.
“Max Lord (Sean Gunn) only appears in one scene in SUPERMAN. He’s on [TV], saying ‘The one thing both the left and right can agree on is that Lex Luthor sucks.'”
This rumor may come as a relief for those disappointed that Sean Gunn may take a leading role in yet another James Gunn production. However, aside from the new detail about Maxwell Lord, this rumor also expands on how the DC Universe as a whole views Lex Luthor going into Superman. That is, not highly. If this is true, it’ll be interesting how such a hated character manages to turn the world against the beloved Man of Steel.
