Is Ultraman the true villain of Superman? A new theory claims fans may have mistaken him for an obscure character from the original DC Comics!
Theories that Ultraman would be the main villain of Superman have been swirling for months. Rumors claimed that he would be a clone of the titular Man of Steel. This speculation came to a head recently when set photos dropped revealing a mysterious villain with the letter “U” on his chest. Given Ultraman is the only DC character people could think of with a “U,” the rumors seemed all but confirmed!
However, a new theory is convincing some fans this may not be Ultraman after all. According to internet chatter, this character isn’t a perfect clone of Superman. Rather, it’s the obscure DC Comics villain Ulysses.
Who Is Ulysses In DC Comics?
Like Ultraman, Ulysses is the exact opposite of Superman. In the comics, Ulysses is known as the “Last Son Of Earth,” having been sent to another dimension by his parents during a lab accident that they thought would destroy the Earth. When he returned, Ulysses discovered that he had brand new powers. After losing faith in humanity, Ulysses tried to return to his home with six million humans in tow as fuel.
This aligns much closer to what fans know about the villain in Superman. It never lined up that Ultraman would be a perfect clone of the Man of Steel. Ulysses’ origin aligns much more with the idea of Lex Luthor trying to create his own Superman. Even his costume looks closer to the set photos than Ultraman’s does! Though who the mysterious villain is likely won’t be confirmed until the film actually arrives in theaters.
