Rebellion CEO Jason Kingsley wants to see both Sylvester Stallone and Karl Urban return for the Dredd TV series, Mega-City One.
Although it’s been sometime before we’ve heard any concrete news about the Dredd TV series, Rebellion CEO Jason Kingsley would love to see Karl Urban and Sylvester Stallone team up for the show, titled Mega-City One. During an appearance on the V2A Emergency System Broadcast YouTube channel, Kingsley provided an update about the Dredd TV series, noting the ongoing pandemic has stalled work on it. The CEO did mention that there are a number of different scripts in production but he’s hoping once the global situation has subsided they can go back and begin work on it.
“I want there to be a sequel. We’ve got the rights back so we can do it, we’ve just got to get rid of this virus thing that’s going on at the moment, and then hopefully things can kick off in all sorts of different areas of making film and TV. It’s all very messed up at the moment for everybody. A lot of work has been done on all sorts of different scripts actually. So Mega-City One the TV show. Basically, we can’t go into production because of the [situation] and we’ve got scripts and everything is ready to go but the problem is, because of the [situation] and everybody’s funding changes and everybody’s shifting around.”
Dredd star Karl Urban previously mentioned that he’d love to return to the role in a sequel, but he wasn’t sure if he’d be called back to don the iconic helmet once again. The Rebellion CEO addressed getting Urban back for the series, implying that if they can do that, they will. He also jokingly mentioned that getting Sylvester Stallone back to appear in some form would also be fun. Fans will remember he starred in the 1995 Judge Dredd film, although it wasn’t well received.
“Well if we can get people back, you know, we even joked that it would be quite fun to get Stallone back.”
