Netflix has released key details on the upcoming series Tekken: Bloodline, which arrives next month.
Video games adaptations have had a tough time translating into different mediums in the past, but Netflix has been going all in with titles like Arcane, Resident Evil, and DOTA. Netflix is also developing projects based on BioShock, Devil May Cry, and Dragon Age: Absolution. Another major video game franchise getting the Netflix treatment soon is Bandai Nemco’s Tekken, in the form of an anime series.
What is Tekken: Bloodline?
Tekken has previously been adapted into animated and live-action films, but Netflix will go the episodic route. Tekken: Bloodline is inspired by the storylines of Tekken 2 and 3 video games. and was directed by Katsuhiro Harada. Here is the synopsis for the upcoming series:
“Power is everything.” Jin Kazama learned the family self-defense arts, Kazama-Style Traditional Martial Arts, from his mother at an early age. Even so, he was powerless when a monstrous evil suddenly appeared, destroying everything dear to him, and changing his life forever. Angry at himself for being unable to stop it, Jin vowed revenge and sought absolute power to exact it. His quest will lead to the ultimate battle on a global stage — The King of Iron Fist Tournament.“
The series stars Jin Kazama as Isshin Chiba, Jun Kazama as Mamiko Noto, Heihachi Mishima as Taiten Kusunoki, Kazuya Mishima as Masanori Shinohara, Hwoarang as Toshiyuki Morikawa, Ling Xiaoyu as Maaya Sakamoto, Paul Phoenix as Hochu Otsuka, Julia Chang as Seiko Yoshida, Nina Williams as Yumi Toma, and Ganryu as Hidenari Ugaki.
