Will The Batman Part II get delayed? A new report suggests the film is behind schedule despite filming being planned for next year.

While fans have been patiently waiting for The Batman Part II, excitement has reached a fever pitch following the finale of The Penguin. The project was originally set to debut in October of next year, before ultimately being delayed to 2026 with filming set to begin in 2025. This plan was hyped up by co-writer Mattson Tomlin, who confirmed those plans earlier this year.

“It’s shooting next year. We’re gearing up, and I will say that the bar just couldn’t be higher,” Tomlin revealed to ScreenRant, later continuing “…In the five years now that I’ve been working with him as closely as I have, I’ve tried to absorb as much as humanly possible from him, and I’m so grateful for the time that I get to spend with him, because he is a true artist who is operating in a world where sometimes art doesn’t get to flourish, and he’s trying to make something that really matters.”

This quote gave fans hope that things were finally getting back on track for The Batman Part II despite its delays. While four years is a long time to wait for a direct sequel in the modern age, it’s certainly not unheard of, especially given the amount of times the first film was delayed or changed hands throughout production.

Is The Batman Part II Delayed?

Trouble began to brew for The Batman Part II a few days ago when it was revealed that Robert Pattinson had been cast in Christopher Nolan’s next film, which is set to shoot next year around the same time as the long-awaited sequel. This was addressed by The Hollywood Reporter, which stated the hopes for shooting The Batman Part II  “remain in place but nothing is close to being planned.”

Given how long pre-production usually runs on films as big as The Batman Part II, it’s certainly worrying to hear that nothing is even being planned. Even if the project shoots at the very end of 2025, there may be seem crunch in building sets and getting locations if pre-production doesn’t start soon. While nothing is certain, things certainly aren’t looking good for the film.
