Gotham City is a "sandbox" apparently.

With work still underway on Robert Pattinson’s The Batman, the second unit director praised the Matt Reeves-directed film, calling it phenomenal.

Although many fans were sceptical about a new version of the Caped Crusader heading to the screen so soon after Ben Affleck departed the role – it’s safe to say that audiences were floored by the first trailer for The Batman revealed by director Matt Reeves at DC FanDome last year. And with filming still underway on the movie, the second unit director in charge of production in Chicago has praised what Reeves is doing with the franchise.

While speaking to ComicBookMovie about working on The Devil Below, a new horror film, director Bradley Parker opened up about working on The Batman. He explained that this new version of Gotham City is a “sandbox” to play in and confessed that he loves working with Matt Reeves. Parker has also worked on Marvel Studios’ Loki, calling the upcoming series and the DC film “phenomenal.” It sounds like it’s been difficult for leading man Robert Pattinson though, as previous reports said the shoot has been gruelling for the new Dark Knight. Take a look at Bradley Parker discussing the project below.

“I’ve finished filming on that. I directed the Chicago second unit. It was an absolute blast. Again, it’s playing in a much, much bigger sandbox than The Devil Below, but a lot of the same techniques and ideas apply. I love doing both giant movies and little movies. They’re all fun, but I’ve always loved working with Matt Reeves, and that’s another project, like Loki, which is going to be incredible. They’re both phenomenal projects.”

The plot of The Batman is being kept under wraps, but we know the film will follow Robert Pattinson as a younger version of Bruce Wayne, chronicling Batman during his second year as the Dark Knight of Gotham City. The Batman will also show off the hero using his skills as a detective more than what we’ve seen before in previous versions of the hero. It is also expected to be the first installment in a new trilogy of films with Pattinson.

Directed by Matt Reeves, The Batman stars Robert Pattinson as the titular hero, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Jayme Lawson as Bella Reál, with Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin.

The Batman is currently scheduled to hit theaters on March 4, 2022. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding Matt Reeves, Robert Pattinson and the DC Films project, and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more video content.
