College is in session for The Boys in their newest Gen V spin-off. Jensen Ackles confirms he’ll be returning as Soldier Boy in the show, but he won’t be the only alumni who’s set to appear in the spin-off.
This news may come of a shock to fans given Soldier Boy’s frosty send-off at the end of season three of The Boys, with Gen V taking place between season three and four. However, in a recent interview, Ackles confirmed that it wasn’t just Soldier Boy who would be appearing in the new show:
“Soldier Boy pops up for a brief moment in this new spin-off of The Boys,” Ackles told Entertainment Weekly. “In fact, there’s a few cameos from the mothership that come into this spin-off. My little bit there was heavily [improvised].”
Jensen Ackles also confirmed during the interview that Eric Kripke, who he had previously worked with on the show Supernatural, was working on the set of the spin-off, and that the two were workshopping new approaches to the scene between takes:
“He and I were just, like, we were spitballing ideas and workshopping literally in between takes and coming up with a whole variety of takes.”
Despite the series set to premiere late this year, details about the show have been kept close to the chest at Amazon. The series has been described as “part college show, part Hunger Games” and a trailer for it dropped at the end of last year. There is currently no release date set for the show.
Gen V Kicks Off The School Year!
Led by The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina star Jaz Sinclair, Gen V is set at a college for young adult superheroes, run by Vought International. The series “explores the lives of hormonal, competitive Supes as they put their physical, sexual, and moral boundaries to the test, competing for the school’s top ranking,” according to an official description from Amazon.
The cast of Gen V also includes Jaz Sinclair, Chance Perdomo, Lizze Broadway, Shelley Conn, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Derek Luh, Asa Germann, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sean Patrick Thomas, Marco Pigossi, Clancy Brown, Alexander Calvert and Jason Ritter. Jessie T. Usher, Colby Minifie and P.J. Byrne are also on board, reprising their roles from The Boys.
