Marvel’s First Family is finally in the MCU! Trading cards featuring the cast of The Fantastic Four: First Steps unveil a new look at the film’s titular actors.
People expected a lot of things from The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Marvel had a lot riding on bringing their iconic First Family into the MCU, so they had to pull out all the stops. Fans expected big names, fans expected characters like Galactus and the Silver Surfer, fans even expected Franklin Richards to appear. However, the one things fans couldn’t expect was the studio leaning into the film’s retro aesthetic so hard.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps has not been shy in distinguishing itself from other blockbusters, even those in the MCU. In doing so, Marvel has wrapped the entire project in the aesthetics of the Atomic Age, one of the most revered times in the American lexicon. This dedication to a style isn’t limited to the film’s logo, but the way they style their trailers, merch, and, yes, even their trading cards.

Marvel’s Fantastic Four Trading Cards
Of course, it’s not likely Marvel is literally releasing these trading cards. They’re likely just a stylized mechanism through which they can put out dedicated character posters for The Fantastic Four: First Steps. However, this level of asset customization is one rarely seen in the MCU, and is even fairly uncommon outside of the blockbuster franchise.
While Marvel slowly seems to be correcting the course of their losing streak with the MCU, The Fantastic Four: First Steps is objectively coming out during a time where morale for the franchise is at an all-time-low. So while these trading cards may not do much than signal effort, it’s that sliver of effort that is needed to convince fans to show up on opening night and give the film the momentum it needs to make its money back.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps opens on July 25, 2025. Stay tuned for all the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
