It seems the Marvel Cinematic Universe is bringing back a few familiar faces for The Fantastic Four! A new rumor suggests that Galactus and Silver Surfer will be taking center stage as main villains of the movie, with the project also setting up Doctor Doom for future MCU appearances.
With The Fantastic Four cast finally taking shape, Marvel fans have been waiting with bated breath to see who will play Doctor Doom in the MCU. However, it seems the iconic villain may not be getting cast just yet. According to Hollywood insider Jeff Sneider, Galactus and Silver Surfer are set to be the film’s villains, with Marvel eyeing Javier Bardem as the Devourer of Worlds.
“Finally, a word on the villains in The Fantastic Four.” Sneider wrote in his newsletter. “As I already told you, Doctor Doom is slated to appear, but not until the very end of the film. Thus, Doom’s casting won’t be figured out until well into filming, I’m told.”
“Instead, the main villain is said to be Galactus, and to that end, I continue to hear that Oscar winner Javier Bardem is the top choice for the role — they just have to figure out his schedule with Apple’s F1 movie starring Brad Pitt. Marvel just started meeting with performers for Silver Surfer, so stay tuned for more on that front…”
Given that Doctor Doom has been the leading villain in almost every other The Fantastic Four movie to date, it makes sense Marvel would want to go in a different direction for the MCU reboot. It also makes that the Disney-owned Marvel wants Javier Bardem as Galactus given the actor’s imposing presence and his relationship with the House of Mouse, as he recently appeared in The Little Mermaid. Hopefully, Marvel’s new Silver Surfer can match his terrifying energy!
