The reluctant leader is always the most interesting leader.

The Mandalorian star Pedro Pascal discusses Din Djarin’s role in the third season and his position as a reluctant leader.

The second season of The Mandalorian left Pedro Pascal’s Din Djarin in a bit of an awkward position. After defeating Moff Gideon in a duel, Din took the Darksaber from the Star Wars antagonist. By Mandalorian tradition, that makes his character the rightful ruler of Mandalore.

After the events of the second season of The Mandalorian, fans saw his story continue in The Book of Boba Fett. It revealed that he was having trouble wielding the Darksaber and had returned to his life as a bounty hunter. From the look of things, Season 3 will see Din Djarin thrust into a leadership position which will potentially bring him into conflict with Katee Sackhoff’s Bo-Katon.

A Reluctant Leader

In a recent interview with Total Film via Comicbook.com, Pedro Pascal opened up on Din Djarin’s role as a leader in the third season of The Mandalorian, and how he is not eager to take up the task:

“If he is stepping into a leadership position, he’s reluctant to do so. I don’t think that there’s anything more interesting than a character being forced into discovering what they’re capable of, and who they are. That part has been really, really fun. Also, from my point of view, there’s so many searchable ways to find the tonality of that. I just tried to achieve the subtleties of that kind of character development.”

Pedro Pascal’s Din Djarin was last seen in The Book of Boba Fett. Here is the synopsis for the Star Wars series:

The Book of Boba Fett, a thrilling Star Wars adventure, finds legendary bounty hunter Boba Fett and mercenary Fennec Shand navigating the Galaxy’s underworld when they return to the sands of Tatooine to stake their claim on the territory once ruled by Jabba the Hutt and his crime syndicate.

Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Robert Rodriguez, and Kathleen Kennedy are all executive producers on The Mandalorian spin-off with episodes directed by Rodriguez, Favreau, Filoni, and Bryce Dallas Howard. The series stars Temuera Morrison, Ming-Na Wen, and Jennifer Beals.

The Book of Boba Fett is now available on Disney Plus. Season 3 of The Mandalorian is expected to debut in February of 2023. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the upcoming season and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
