When is The Penguin going to premiere!? The release window for the highly-anticipated spin-off of The Batman has finally been revealed.
The Batman fans have been going through withdrawals ever since the film dropped in 2022. With the sequel now delayed until 2026 and the GCPD spin-off in the can, all eyes are on The Penguin for their fix. It’s been known the project will drop on Max in the fall, but with such a large window, fans have begun to get antsy.
Relief has finally come in the form of a release month for The Penguin. While a specific date hasn’t been given for when The Batman spin-off will drop, the project is now confirmed to drop on Max sometime in September. With House of The Dragon wrapping up in early August, it’s likely to be to the front half of the month as well.
Max Chairman Hypes Up The Penguin
Fans aren’t the only people excited for The Penguin. It’s clear Warner Bros. Discovery is ready to get The Batman spin-off out the door (if only because the company’s reputation is still in the toilet). Chairman of HBO and Max content Casey Bloys recently spoke about the series, calling it a “fantastic” project from Matt Reeves.
“One of the advantages that I think we have as a company, putting aside HBO for a second, is all the Warner Bros. IP,” Bloys told Variety. “So after House of the Dragon, the next big tentpole series that we have coming up will be the [The] Penguin with Colin Farrell. That is coming out of Matt Reeves’ The Batman and it’s fantastic. Just like Peacemaker came out of James Gunn’s Suicide Squad, it’s a really good example of what you can do. That”ll be in September.”
It’s good to hear that The Penguin is a worthy follow-up to The Batman. Any spin-off runs the risk of giving fans too much of what made the original so special. So while the release is still months away, fans can rest assured that the project will be worth the wait when September finally arrives.
