Eternity, the cosmic entity embodying all of time, made his MCU debut in Thor: Love and Thunder and new concept art reveals various designs that were considered for his domain.

In Marvel’s fourth Thor film, Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher sets out in search of Eternity. Whoever finds Eternity is granted a wish by the all-powerful being and Gorr seeks to remove all gods from existence.

In the film’s final act, Eternity is revealed in a vast open plain made up of nothing but water and sky. However, some more elaborate designs were originally considered.

Artwork for Thor: Love and Thunder shared by concept designer Jeremy Love reveals the various looks that were explored for Eternity’s doman in the movie.

Jeremy Love shared the concept art on Instagram, revealing a range of elaborate structures that were considered as possible designs for the dwelling place of the all-powerful cosmic entity. While they are a far cry from what was eventually shown in Love and Thunder, these designs could have made for some truly impressive visuals.

Ultimately, Taika Waititi went in a more minimalist direction, which felt more befitting for the mysterious entity known as Eternity and placed more focus on the amazing design of Eternity himself. However, this artwork provides a look at some stunning visuals that almost made it into Thor: Love and Thunder.

Here is the synopsis for Thor: Love and Thunder:

The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.

Directed by Taika Waititi and produced by Kevin Feige and Brad Winderbaum, the Thor sequel stars Chris Hemsworth, Christian Bale, Tessa Thompson, Jaimie Alexander, Taika Waititi, Russell Crowe, Natalie Portman, Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper.
