The first clip from Love and Thunder premiered during the MTV Movie & TV Awards and sees Chris Hemsworth’s Thor come close to reuniting with Mjölnir.

In Thor: Ragnarok, we saw Hela destroy Mjölnir. However, Thor was able to use it again in Avengers: Endgame after summoning it during the events of The Dark World when he traveled back in time. Captain America ended up returning the original Mjölnir to The Dark World events towards the end of Avengers: Endgame, but somehow it will turn up again in Thor: Love and Thunder.

Mjölnir Returns!

Not only will the original Mjölnir return, but this time we will see Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster wield it. That’s what’s teased in the first Thor: Love and Thunder clip that was released during the MTV Movie & TV Awards on Sunday night. The clip also offers a hint at the score composed by Michael Giacchino. You can watch the first clip below.

Here is the synopsis for Thor: Love and Thunder:

The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.

Directed by Taika Waititi and produced by Kevin Feige and Brad Winderbaum, the film stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Vin Diesel, Pom Klementieff, Sean Gunn, and Russell Crowe.
