The reviews are in for Thunderbolts! The Rotten Tomatoes score for the MCU’s latest film has been revealed, and it has shocked fans and critics alike.
The MCU has had one wild ride these past few years. Some of the most hyped projects have turned out to be flopped, and sleeper hits have turned into overnight sensations. And no film better encapsulates this topsy-turvy world than Thunderbolts, a movie which won people over basically overnight following many fans signing it off as destined to flop on Rotten Tomatoes.
And as that fated Rotten Tomatoes score rolls into the station, it seems Thunderbolts is doing better than anyone could have imagined. The reviews aren’t just in, they’re bursting at the seams with praise! The film has become, not just a hit in a time of drought for the MCU, but one of the highest rated projects in the entire franchise! (Specifically, landing at spot 14 with an astonishing 87%)

Is Thunderbolts Actually Good?
While some may not put much stock into the Rotten Tomatoes score these days, the actual opinions of the critics seem to match the enthusiasm for Thunderbolts. Early social media reviews are in, and they suggest that the film is a masterclass of what the MCU can do when it stops holding itself back, putting particular emphasis on the performance of Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova.
THUNDERBOLTS: it was AMAZING, SHOCKING, and AWESOME in every way. Florence Pugh and Lewis Pullman are absolutely STELLAR in this film and they’re the highlights of the movie. Also, that asterisk reveal will SURPRISE you and make sure to stick for BOTH POST CREDITS. #Thunderbolts pic.twitter.com/qJpZPjyzHY

Thunderbolts* has both a dark half and a light half, but only one of them is actually pretty great.

‘THUNDERBOLTS*’ combines an electric ensemble cast with a screenplay filled with emotional depth on themes of suicidal ideation & depression, making one of the best MCU films in recent memory.

Of course, even though the Rotten Tomatoes score is solid with critics, there’s still a few days until audiences’ opinion of the film hits the net. It’ll be interesting to see how those reviews stack up with those from the pre-release. Though, regardless of where either score lands, it certainly seems as though Thunderbolts is the win that the MCU has sorely needed.
Thunderbolts is currently set to hit theaters on May 2, 2025. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
