‘Dune’ Star Timothée Chalamet Says Leonardo DiCaprio Warned Him Off Superhero Movies

The two actors met once upon a time in Hollywood...

Dune Timothee Chalamet

Timothée Chalamet has revealed it was The Revenant star and Hollywood legend Leonardo DiCaprio who warned him away from superhero movies (and illicit substances).

Chalamet, who recently appeared in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune and is set to return to the franchise in next year’s Dune: Part Two, previously revealed some blunt advice he was given by one of his Hollywood heroes. He has now revealed DiCaprio was the one who imparted the words of wisdom.

In a recent interview, Timothée Chalamet finally opened up on the advice he had previously talked about receiving, naming Leonardo DiCaprio as its source after refusing to do so before.

‘No Superhero Movies’

In an interview with British Vogue, Timothée Chalamet confirmed it was Leonardo DiCaprio who once told him: “No hard drugs and no superhero movies.”

So far, Chalamet appears to have followed DiCaprio’s advice (on both fronts, we assume). While he has not taken on any superhero movies though, that hasn’t stopped fans speculating on comic book roles he could play.

It’s not just fans, either. His Dune co-star Zendaya previously joined her Spider-Man: No Way Home co-stars in wondering who Chalamet could play in a future MCU movie. Interestingly, despite his advice to Chalament, Leonardo DiCaprio was once considered for role of Spider-Man when James Cameron came close to directing a movie featuring the wall-crawler in the 1990s.

While Timothée Chalamet has not appeared in a superhero movie himself, in Dune, he is surrounded by superhero stars. Not only is he joined by Zendaya of Spider-Man fame, but Aquaman‘s Jason Momoa, Moon Knight‘s Oscar Isaac, Avengers and Deadpool star Josh Brolin, and Guardians of the Galaxy‘s Dave Bautista all appear.

Here is the synopsis for Dune:

Set in the distant future, Dune tells the story of Paul Atreides whose family accepts control of the desert planet Arrakis. As the only producer of a highly valuable resource, control of Arrakis is highly contested among the noble families. After Paul and his family are betrayed, the story explores themes of politics, religion, and man’s relationship to nature as Paul leads a rebellion to restore his family’s control of Arrakis.

Denis Villeneuve directed Dune from a script he co-wrote with Eric Roth and Jon Spaihts. The film stars Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Dave Bautista, Stellan Skarsgard, Charlotte Rampling, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Jason Momoa, Javier Bardem, and David Dastmalchian.

Dune is now available on home media formats, with Part Two hitting theaters on October 20, 2023. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the upcoming film and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
