‘Superman And Lois’: Reverse Flash Actor Tom Cavanagh Teases Arrowverse Return

Alls Wells that ends Wells!

Tom Cavanagh Reverse Flash Arrowverse Return Tyler Hoechlin Superman and Lois

Could the Reverse Flash return to the Arrowverse? Tom Cavanagh teases his involvement in the finale of Superman and Lois.

Tom Cavanagh has been a tour de force when it comes to the Arrowverse. While best known for being the actor behind the Reverse Flash, Cavanagh has also directed multiple episodes of both The Flash and Superman and Lois. With the latter now coming to an end, Cavanagh revealed that he may have one final appearance up his sleeve.

“The finale for ‘Superman & Lois’ was taken up already, and so I said, ‘Well, I’m happy to not do it,’ which is when Todd [Helbing] was like ‘Well, would you play a role?'” Cavanagh explained when asked about directing an episode in the final season of Superman and Lois during FAN EXPO Philadelphia. “And so that’s coming up, for those of you that watch ‘Superman & Lois’ – something that I’m happy to have done.”

For as much as fans might want to see the Reverse Flash return, it would likely seem forced to have him appear for the first time at the very end of the series. Instead, it’s more likely that Tom Cavanagh plays another version of Harrison Wells, variants of which he’s played across the Arrowverse. Given Superman and Lois already had a variant of John Diggle, it’s not exactly out of the question!

The Story Of Superman And Lois’ Final Season

While little details are known about how Superman and Lois will end, some casting details have fueled speculation about the end of the Arrowverse. Michael Cudlitz, who plays Lex Luthor in the series, is set to return as a series regular. The show has also added Douglas Smith as Jimmy Olsen, marking the first time the character has appeared in the series.

These casting announcements likely mean that Superman and Lois will be tackling a more traditional Superman story for its final season. The show has prided itself in taking wild swings, even when compared to the rest of the Arrowverse, but the return of Lex Luthor as the main villain suggests there may be fewer tricks than fans expect. Then again, that may be exactly what the showrunners want fans to think!
