Tom Hanks Reveals Disney’s Strict Rules For ‘Toy Story 4’ Press Tour

Toy Story 4 Disney Pixar Tom Hanks

During his Thursday night appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Tom Hanks revealed the strict rules he must stick to for Disney when discussing the upcoming Toy Story 4.

With how secretive Avengers: Endgame was, it’s no surprise that Disney implemented some heavy media restrictions for Toy Story 4. Tom Hanks is no stranger to press tours, but during his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, he revealed he has to abide by some pretty strict rules:

“I have these talking points that Disney gives you at the beginning of the press junket thing and these things are like Gutenberg Bible stuff. Look at how many times I’ve studied them… I’ve spilled some tomato juice on it at one point.”

In regards to Woody and spoilers, he said, “Don’t discuss Woody —” and “Please don’t share that —,”.

In addition, Tom Hanks also revealed the sample questions Disney supplies and joked about the trouble he’ll get in for sharing:

“Do you know how many executives right now want to kick my ass because I brought this out? They have an entire division over there. It’s called Disney Corporate Vertical Integration Marketing Division.”

Tom Hanks also pointed out that Disney provided an answer to say when describing Bo Peep:

“Bo Peep should be described as a strong character from the beginning. Her recent experience perhaps made her strong, but she was never a weak character,”

Toy Story 4 opens in theaters on June 21, 2019. Here’s the official synopsis:

Woody (voice of Tom Hanks) has always been confident about his place in the world, and that his priority is taking care of his kid, whether that’s Andy or Bonnie. So when Bonnie’s beloved new craft-project-turned-toy, Forky (voice of Tony Hale), declares himself as “trash” and not a toy, Woody takes it upon himself to show Forky why he should embrace being a toy. But when Bonnie takes the whole gang on her family’s road trip excursion, Woody ends up on an unexpected detour that includes a reunion with his long-lost friend Bo Peep (voice of Annie Potts). After years of being on her own, Bo’s adventurous spirit and life on the road belie her delicate porcelain exterior. As Woody and Bo realize they’re worlds apart when it comes to life as a toy, they soon come to find that’s the least of their worries.

Directed by Josh Cooley from a script written by Stephany Folsom, Toy Story 4 features the voice talents of Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Annie Potts, Joan Cusack, Blake Clark, Wallace Shawn, John Ratzenberger, Estelle Harris, Jodi Benson, Michael Keaton, Jeff Pidgeon, Kristen Schaal, Bonnie Hunt, Timothy Dalton, Jeff Garlin, Laurie Metcalf, Lori Alan, Tony Hale, Keegan-Michael Key, Jordan Peele and Keanu Reeves.
