Is Tom Hardy truly done as Venom?

Venom: The Last Dance may truly be the end! Tom Hardy has once more taken to social media to state his time at Sony Pictures is coming to a close.

The sun seems to be setting on Sony Pictures’ universe of Spider-Man spin-off films. After a string of flops, the Venom franchise stood as a bulwark against financial damnation for the project. Yet it seems even that is coming to an end with Venom: The Last Dance, with the film’s star Tom Hardy taking to social media to close his book on the controversial trilogy.

“Thank you for a great time – and 7 years,” Hardy wrote in a recent Instagram post. “I’ve had the best experience @Sony working with Venom – this is me and the big guy last outing going out with a Bang!!! Come see us off – last in the trilogy and done ❤️ we have had such a great time Thank you.”

This news may be a disappointment to some fans. While Venom: The Last Dance is set to crank everything Sony Pictures’ franchise has been known for up to eleven, there’s a distinct hollowness that Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock never officially crossed over with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, despite that being the entire point of the spin-off! However, it seems there may still be a glimmer of hope for those who believe.

Could Tom Hardy’s Venom Be Coming To The MCU?

Many fans were quick to notice that Tom Hardy only said that Venom: The Last Dance was the last in the trilogy with Sony Pictures, not that he was done playing the character entirely. Given the film is set to prominently feature Knull, but not in the role of the main villain, many think that the movie will set up a true blue crossover film between his version of Venom and Tom Holland’s Spider-Man.

This speculation is supported by a recent round of reshoots for Venom: The Last Dance. While most of the trailer footage puts Tom Hardy’s Venom squarely in the southwestern United States, these new scenes are all but confirmed to be set in New York. This has left many to believe that Hardy will be recruiting Tom Hardy’s Spider-Man to take on Knull in a spin-off film, or potentially Spider-Man 4 itself.

Venom: The Last Dance opens in theaters on October 25, 2024. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Venom series and makes sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
