Could Tom Hiddleston potentially make his return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe? The Loki star suggests he isn’t sure his series was the end of the road.
Loki was one of the best-received MCU projects in recent memory, presenting a truly mind-bending journey throughout the multiverse with everyone’s favorite God of Mischief. While many viewed it as a satisfying end to Tom Hiddleston’s time as Loki, others saw it as an open door for him to return in a future Avengers movie.
When asked about the possibility of him making a return as Loki in a future project like Avengers: Secret Wars during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Tom Hiddleston admitted that he isn’t sure what the future holds for the character. However, he is happy at where the character’s story currently lies within the MCU.
“I had no idea, and every time someone says that [it’s been 14 years], it kind of blows my mind because when I was cast in 2009, I was 29…28…and I’m 43 now, and that’s a big chunk of my adult life I’ve been playing this amazing character. It’s changed the course of my life completely.”
“I don’t know,” Hiddleston explained. “I really don’t know…I know that we’ve reached some sort of narrative conclusion with season two, which feels very satisfying to me.”
Despite starting out as a simple villain in the MCU, Tom Hiddleston’s Loki has quickly become one of the longest-tenured characters in the franchise. Thanks to his Disney Plus series, he’s outlasted the likes of Iron Man and Captain America. So while his return in an Avengers project may be uncertain, fans can at least appreciate the incredible work the actor has put in over the last decade and a half.

Tom Hiddleston Speaks On If Loki Is Still A Villain
Tom Hiddleston was the original big bad of the MCU, with Loki serving as the herald of Thanos’ arrival in the first Avengers film. Yet over nearly 15 years, the character has gone through a massive transformation, leaving many to wonder if he can still even be considered a villain. When asked about this idea during Jimmy Kimmel Live, Hiddleston said he’d like to think the God of Mischief has grown over the years.
“I’m aware that he’s made some interesting choices, which could be accumulated into a picture that looks like he’s a villain, and once upon a time, he was making some misguided choices,” Hiddleston told Kimmel. “You know, trying to take over New York and the Avengers having to assemble to stop him, that was a bad day in the office. I’d like to think that you know, 14 years later, he’s making some slightly more generous, loving and heroic choices.”
It’s interesting that Tom Hiddleston would reference Loki’s showdown in Avengers as a bad day at the office, given his Disney Plus show picks up shortly after the events of the film. Though given both the show and the version of Loki in the main MCU timeline followed similar paths, it’s possible that the God of Mischief was never truly a villain after all.
