It seems as though discussions for Spider-Man 4 are finally underway. However, Tom Holland insists he’ll only return if the story is worthy of the character.
After the smash hit that was Spider-Man: No Way Home, fans have been frothing from the mouth for any news about Spider-Man 4. Good news: It seems discussions about the project’s story are officially underway. Bad news: it may not be coming any time soon, as Tom Holland is dedicated to ensuring the film is worthy of the character’s legacy:
“All I can say is that we have been actively engaging in conversations about what it could potentially look like for a fourth rendition of my character,” Holland spoke at a recent press conference held by the Critics Choice Association. “Whether or not we can find a way to do justice to the character is another thing. I feel very protective over Spider-Man.”
“I feel very, very lucky that we were able to work on a franchise that got better with each movie, that got more successful with each movie, which I think is really rare, and I want to protect his legacy. So, I won’t make another one for the sake of making another one. It will have to be worth the while of the character.”
It’s certainly a relief that Spider-Man 4 isn’t being rushed out. Given the recent quality of certain tentpole superhero releases, some fans were understandably worried about the direction Tom Holland’s web-head would go in relation to the multiverse saga. However, it seems as though his return to the MCU, whenever it may be, will be well worth the wait.
What’s next for Spider-Man?
What does the future hold for Tom Holland’s Peter Parker? The success of Spider-Man: No Way Home has opened up a world of possibilities for the fan-favorite Marvel character. The movie ends with Peter erasing himself from the memories of his loved ones in order to protect them from his enemies. This sets up an interesting dynamic for future Spider-Man movies, as Peter will have to navigate a world in which he is not known as Spider-Man.
Rumor has it that Tom Holland has signed on for multiple Marvel Cinematic Universe appearances after Spider-Man: No Way Home. The future of the Spider-Man series is currently unclear, but it is likely that Marvel will continue to explore the multiverse concept that was introduced in No Way Home.
Spider-Man: No Way Home is now available to own on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital HD. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding Spider-Man’s Marvel Cinematic Universe future and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
