Spider-Man: No Way Home just crossed yet another box office milestone. The film, which stars Tom Holland in the titular role, just crossed the $800 million mark at the U.S. domestic box office, becoming only the third film in history to do it, right behind Avengers: Endgame, which grossed $858.3 million, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which remains at the #1 spot with $936.7 million.

Along with the box office success of the Tom Holland film, its official Digital HD release earned a record-breaking $42 million in its first week. The continued success of Spider-Man: No Way Home showcases yet again that it is one of the most successful blockbusters in cinematic history, even a whole three months since it hit theaters.

The box office success of Spider-Man: No Way Home continues to be a beacon of hope for the movie theater industry, as analysts have expressed that the film’s success will keep the industry alive. In the last two years of the pandemic, the industry feared the death of theaters partially due to the growth of streaming at home, as well as public health fears. Well, the record-breaking success of Tom Holland’s film, as well as the success of Robert Pattinson’s The Batman showcases that there is still an appetite for the big screen experience. After all, there is something about a communal experience that you just can’t get at home.

Here is the synopsis for Spider-Man: No Way Home:

For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero’s identity is revealed, bringing his Super Hero responsibilities into conflict with his normal life and putting those he cares about most at risk.
