Bruce Campbell playfully dissed Tom Holland’s Spider-Man films.
Spider-Man: No Way Home has broken numerous records at the box office, and while Tom Holland’s third standalone film was always expected to be a smash hit, many attribute the film’s record-breaking success to the involvement of the two previous incarnations of the character. Fans continue to debate who among the three is their favorite, but when you ask Bruce Campbell, he is certainly biased, but understandably so.
Bruce Campbell, a longtime friend and frequent collaborator of director Sam Raimi appeared in all three of the original Spider-Man films with Tobey Maguire, playing a different character in each of them. Bruce Campbell recently made an appearance at Fandemic Tour Atlanta, in which he was asked about his thoughts on Tom Holland’s newest Spider-Man film, to which he playfully responded:
“The recent Spider-Man, was there a recent Spider-Man movie? I didn’t know, I was in the good ones. I wouldn’t know.”
Clearly, Bruce Campbell was only being playful with his jab towards Tom Holland’s Spider-Man films. After all, he’s understandably biased towards his friend Sam Raimi’s films, having had memorable small roles as The Ring Announcer in the first film, a Snooty Usher in the second film, and a Maître d’ in the third.
Recently, Bruce Campbell seemingly confirmed that he has a cameo in Sam Raimi’s upcoming film, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The identity of his character remains unknown, but him having an appearance in the film isn’t surprising given the pair’s collaborative relationship over the years.
