Nearly thirty-five years after the original film flew into theaters, Tom Cruise will reprise his iconic role as Pete “Maverick” Mitchell in the upcoming Top Gun sequel. Now, two new set photos reveal Tom Cruise back in the bomber jacket and aviator sunglasses as his character rides a Kawasaki motorcycle.

Details on the film are currently under wraps, though the film will follow Pete “Maverick” Mitchell teaching a new generation of pilots including a young trainee named Bradley Bradshaw, the son of Top Gun character Nick “Goose” Bradshaw who died tragically in the first film. Val Kilmer is set to reprise his role as Tom “Iceman” Kazansky while Jennifer Connelly plays a woman who runs a local Navy bar.
Directed by Joseph Kosinski from a script written by Peter Craig, Justin Marks, Ashley Edward Miller and Zack Stentz, Top Gun: Maverick stars Tom Cruise, Miles Teller, Val Kilmer, Kelly McGillis, Jennifer Connelly, Glen Powell, Monica Barbaro, Thomasin McKenzie, Charles Parnell, Jay Ellis, Bashir Salahuddin, Danny Ramirez, Jon Hamm, and Ed Harris.
Top Gun: Maverick is scheduled to be released in theaters on June 26, 2020.
