Universal Orlando Resort Announces New Operating Hours Upon Reopening

Universal Orlando has announced new operating hours upon reopening today in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Despite the global health crisis not yet being under control in the United States, Universal Orlando has officially reopened its gates to customers this morning for the first time since the theme park shut down in March. Universal revealed its new hours online ahead of the reopening, announcing both Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure would from 9 am ET to 7 pm ET for the foreseeable future.

Universal also announced shorter hours for both Volcano Bay and Universal CityWalk as well.

The reopening of Universal Studios parks in Florida marks the first reopening for major theme parks in the United States since the pandemic took hold, forcing businesses to shut down across America. To ensure the safety of its guests, the park will be instituting new safety guidelines, requiring all attendees and employees to wear masks. Temperatures will also be checked prior to entering the park in addition to strict social distancing guidelines while in the park as attendees will be required to maintain six feet of distance from each other. Attendees with a temperature of 100.4 degrees or higher will not be allowed to enter.

While Universal Studios officially reopened its gates today, Disney, on the other hand, will be waiting until next month to begin reopening its parks in the United States with plans to reopen Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom on July 11, with Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Epcot in tow on July 15. The Walt Disney Company will also be implementing temperature checks and social distancing guidelines in addition to requiring all attendees to wear masks.

But what do you think? Is it too early for theme parks to begin reopening as states continue to report new Coronavirus cases daily? Let us know in the comments below!
