Production on Venom 3 is set to begin in just a few weeks. Ted Lasso star Juno Temple, who is set to play an undisclosed role in the film, is thrilled at the brand new adventure as Sony sets a tentative release window for the project.
Despite a rocky critical reception, the Venom series certainly has its fans for giving a much weirder take on the Lethal Protector, more akin to a romantic comedy than a true superhero romp. News about the third film has been kept tight to the chest during pre-production, but former Ted Lasso star Juno Temple has revealed her excitement for production to begin on the Sony picture, saying filming will begin “very, very soon, which I’m thrilled about”.
This would make Venom 3 one of the few superhero projects to continue production in lieu of the WGA strike. This either means that Sony is very confident in the script, or that fans can expect a less- than-stellar film when it finally lands in theaters, which is expected to happen sometime in October 2024.
What to expect from the next Venom movie
Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, Amy Pascal and Hutch Parker are producing Venom 3. The four were also involved with the first two Venom movies, which were directed by Ruben Fleischer and Andy Serkis. Kelly Marcel is making her directorial debut with the third installment.
Venom and its follow-up Venom: Let There Be Carnage earned a combined $1.36 billion at the worldwide box office. Following their release, Tom Hardy reprised his role as the anti-hero for the post-credits scene of Spider-Man: No Way Home, setting up the long-awaited arrival of the Symbiote suit for Tom Holland’s Peter Parker.
