Taika Waititi Says Kevin Feige Cast ‘Ted Lasso’ Star Brett Goldstein As Hercules

Feige has done it again!

Brett Goldstein Hercules Thor: Love and Thunder Taika Waititi MCU

Taika Waititi revealed Kevin Feige cast Ted Lasso star Brett Goldstein as Hercules for Thor: Love and Thunder‘s mid-credits scene.

Marvel Studios has introduced some major stars into the MCU during their mid-credits scenes so far in Phase Four. In Eternals, we got Harry Styles as Starfox, then Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness brought in Charlize Theron as Clea. For Thor: Love and Thunder, Ted Lasso star Brett Goldstein made his MCU debut as Hercules, which was apparently Kevin Feige’s idea.

Another Great Kevin Feige Idea

Kevin Feige is often credited for many of the awesome things that make their way into Marvel Studios’ projects. According to Taika Waititi in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, casting Brett Goldstein as Hercules was another idea that came from Feige:

“I can’t share much because that was all [Marvel Studios president] Kevin [Feige]. Kevin was like, ‘Hercules? How about we ask Brett [Goldstein]?’ Kevin keeps his cards close to his chest. I don’t wanna be like, ‘Where you going to go with this Hercules character?’ It’s pretty exciting to open up this world of Zeus and Hercules and the Greek gods.”

Here is the synopsis for Thor: Love and Thunder:

The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.

Directed by Taika Waititi and produced by Kevin Feige and Brad Winderbaum, the Thor solo film stars Chris Hemsworth, Christian Bale, Tessa Thompson, Jaimie Alexander, Taika Waititi, Russell Crowe, Natalie Portman, Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper.
