In a recent interview, Andy Serkis opened up about directing the Venom sequel and revealed that Tom Hardy co-wrote the story.

It was confirmed on Monday that Andy Serkis will be the one to direct Tom Hardy’s Venom sequel. While Andy Serkis is best known for his performance capture roles, he will be stepping behind the camera to direct his third film. Not much is known about the upcoming Venom sequel, but Andy Serkis has already started teasing it at the TCA Press Tour:

“I’m right in the beginning stages, so I’ve got some very clear ideas about the journey, [and what] I’d like to see visually, and how we can take the characters into another direction.”

Andy Serkis also revealed that the sequel’s story comes partially from Tom Hardy himself:

“Tom was very involved with the writing–with [screenwriter] Kelly Marcel–of the new story, so it’s very much centered around their take.”

The newly announced Venom director went on to share how exciting the project is for him:

“I’m excited to work with all the great actors who are involved. It’s a fantastic franchise. I’m really honored to have been asked to direct it. And it feels like it’s a very, again, very contemporary story. And it’s I think it’s going to be, hopefully, a story piece of cinema.”
