Viola Davis Reveals If She’d Ever Consider Joining The MCU

Viola Davis sets it straight!

Is Viola Davis officially joining the MCU? The award-winning actress reveals if she has any desire hopping over the pond to join Marvel’s superhero franchise.

Viola Davis is one of the most recognizable faces in all of Hollywood. The actress is a tour de force, having won an EGOT (being an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony). However, she’s also been no stranger to blockbusters, joining major franchises like The Hunger Games and Kung-Fu Panda. Though her most notable role is likely that of Amanda Waller in the DC Universe, a part she has reprised more times than any other in her filmography.

This has led many fans to wonder if the actress had any interest in the MCU, especially as more and more prestigious names in Hollywood seem to turn against Marvel and their specific brand of storytelling. Luckily for fans, it seems as though Viola Davis is all-in when it comes to the world of superheroes, revealing she’s watched every entry in the franchise multiple times.

“Yeah, absolutely. I don’t know what hero I would be, you know. I just, my daughter is a Marvel fanatic, so I’ve watched, I think almost all of them five, six times,” Davis explained to Entertainment Weekly. When pushed on which character she might play, the actress joked. “Probably an Iron Man. I would be — maybe Iron Mania? Iron Shaniqua Mania?”

Who Could Viola Davis Play In The MCU?

Sadly, Marvel doesn’t have an Iron Mania in their catalogue. The closest they have is Iron Maniac which, funnily enough, is a version of Iron Man confused to be a villain since he looks like Doctor Doom. Though that doesn’t mean that Viola Davis is out of the running for the MCU. If there’s one thing the franchise has shown throughout the years, it’s that they can find a place for any high-profile actor that wants into their ranks.

Perhaps the most popular Marvel character making the rounds for Viola Davis to play in the MCU is Bast, the panther goddess of warfare that presides over the Black Panther mantle. While the character already appeared in Thor: Love and Thunder played by Akosia Sabet, fans likely wouldn’t mind the recast if it did come to pass.
