Walker Scobell speaks on scrapped Marvel cameo!

Could Walker Scobell have been the perfect Kidpool? The Percy Jackson star reveals why talks for a cameo in Deadpool and Wolverine fell through.

Before Deadpool and Wolverine hit theaters, fans thought it was all but confirmed that Walker Scobell would play Kidpool. This is mostly because, prior to his leading role in Percy Jackson, the actor worked with both Shawn Levy and Ryan Reynolds on The Adam Project. When asked about if the cameo was ever in the cards, Scobell admitted it was, but they just couldn’t make it work.

“There was a little bit of talks, like maybe Kidpool, or like Teen[pool], or something like that,” Scobell told IGN in a recent interview at D23. “But, I grow a lot, and I’m super busy with Percy [Jackson], and it didn’t make sense for the time.”

“Shawn [Levy] gave me a call about it, which, it’s crazy that they were even thinking of me for that. That’s all I could ask for, and the fact that he gave me a call to tell me that it wasn’t happening, which I didn’t even expect it to happen in the first place. That was just more than I could ever ask for.”

It’s a shame that Walker Scobell didn’t get the chance to cameo as Kidpool given how much fans were rooting for him. However, given the role in Deadpool and Wolverine went to Ryan Reynolds’ daughter Inez Reynolds, fans can’t complain much about the Percy Jackson star missing out on a few lines in an already crowded climax of the film.

Walker Scobell’s Potential Marvel Future

While Walker Scobell missed out on playing Kidpool in Deadpool and Wolverine, that cameo was far from his only hope to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The actor has impressive action chops thanks to his time on Percy Jackson, and it’s clear he has close ties to Disney and some of the biggest movers and shakers in the franchise.

Outside of Kidpool, some Marvel fans have been calling for Walker Scobell to play an aged-up version of Franklin Richards. This would certainly amount to more than a potential cameo in Deadpool and Wolverine. And given Marvel’s direction for The Fantastic Four reboot, it’s possible the Percy Jackson star could be getting even more work on his plate!
