Warner Bros. officially revealed Peter Sarsgaard and Jayme Lawson’s roles in Matt Reeves’ The Batman.
Warner Bros.’ The Batman will be bolstered by an ensemble cast that includes Peter Sarsgaard and Jayme Lawson. While most of the cast’s roles were revealed when news of them joining The Batman was first announced, the identity of the characters portrayed by Peter Sarsgaard and Jayme Lawson remained unconfirmed for a considerable amount of time.
Now, with principal photography on The Batman officially underway, Warner Bros. has released an official announcement that includes the names of the characters played by Peter Sarsgaard and Jayme Lawson. The role of Bella Reál, a Gotham City mayoral candidate, will be played by Jayme Lawson while Peter Saarsgard will portray Gotham District Attorney Gil Colson.
As such, it appears Jayme Lawson and Peter Sarsgaard’s roles in The Batman will be original creations as opposed to characters from the pages of DC Comics. Jayme Lawson’s sole previous credit is a role in the film Farewell Amor while Peter Saarsgard is known for multiple projects including The Magnificent Seven and Black Mass.

Full plot details on The Batman are currently under wraps, though the film will center around a younger Bruce Wayne and feature a Rogues’ Gallery of villains that includes Catwoman, The Penguin, and The Riddler. The Matt Reeves film will follow Batman during his formative years as Gotham City’s protector and will make use of the Dark Knight’s detective skills to a greater extent than previous DC films. It is expected to be the first chapter in a new trilogy from Warner Bros. with Robert Pattinson as Batman.
Directed by Matt Reeves from a script he co-wrote with Mattson Tomlin, The Batman stars Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Jayme Lawson as Bella Reál, with Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin.
The Batman will be released in theaters on June 25, 2021.
