WB Games has reveled how involved Harry Potter creator JK Rowling was with the publisher’s upcoming game, Hogwarts Legacy.
Yesterday, WB Games finally revealed their long-rumored Harry Potter game, Hogwarts Legacy. The game itself is set to take place in the late 1800s and will be an RPG within the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Unfortunately for many, this new game is one that sadly comes with a lot of baggage.
Earlier this year, JK Rowling posted a Tweet that earned her a huge amount of backlash and was viewed as many as being transphobic. Since then, the Harry Potter writer has doubled down on her stance with many of the series stars condemning her viewpoints. This unfortunately makes anything revolving around Harry Potter somewhat problematic as many have interpreted supporting anything related in the franchise as supporting the writer and her views. WB Games, however, seems eager to put as much distance between itself and Rowling as possible in the most civil way possible.
In the FAQ section of WB Games support section relating to Hogwarts Legacy, the company answered the question if Harry Potter writer JK Rowling was involved in the upcoming video game. The answer was a firm no:
“J.K. Rowling is not directly involved in the creation of the game, however, her extraordinary body of writing is the foundation of all projects in the Wizarding World.
This is not a new story from J.K. Rowling.”
