Wonder Man has officially resumed production. Set photos from the upcoming Disney Plus series reveal the show’s logo along with a tease of the titular hero’s costume.
The rumor mill thought Wonder Man was dead in the water following the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Yet it seems Simon Williams is born again, with the Disney Plus series resuming production this past week. Set photos from filming reveal the yet-to-be-revealed logo (at least officially) along with a silhouette of a redesigned costume for Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.
Simon Williams’ suit in Wonder Man seems to be taking notes from other iconic MCU outfits, with a visible tactical collar and a light-up logo compared to the pure spandex look from the comics. The Disney Plus series will likely be announced with a trailer if the project is this deep into production, meaning it won’t be long until fans see the full costume revealed.
Who is Marvel’s Wonder Man?
Wonder Man is a superhero from the Marvel Comics universe with a unique backstory. Created by Stan Lee and Don Heck in 1964, Wonder Man was originally a successful businessman who underwent a dangerous experiment to gain superhuman powers. However, his powers came with a weakness to ionic energy, making him vulnerable to attacks from other ionic-powered beings.
Wonder Man has been a member of several superhero teams, including the Avengers and the West Coast Avengers. He has also had a complicated romantic relationship with Wanda Maximoff, a.k.a. the Scarlet Witch. Marvel’s Disney Plus series is expected to delve deep into Wonder Man’s complex history and personality.
Andrew Guest (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Community) is leading the writing team of the Wonder Man series, with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings helmer Destin Daniel Cretton on board as an executive producer. Cretton is also expected to direct an unspecified number of episodes before moving on to the yet-to-be titled Shang-Chi sequel.
