‘Wonder Woman’ Actress Gal Gadot Reacts To ‘Superman: Legacy’ Casting

Wonder Woman breaks her silence!

Gal Gadot Wonder Woman 1984 David Corenswet

Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman was one of the first superheroes introduced following Henry Cavill’s debut as the Man of Steel. The actress has finally reacted to the role being recast for the new DC Universe with David Corenswet in Superman: Legacy.

While Gal Gadot’s constant Wonder Woman appearances have become a joke in the fandom, she’s been one of the few characters to truly connect the DC Universe. With recent confirmation she’ll likely be returning for Wonder Woman 3, the actress has reacted to her Justice League co-star Henry Cavill being replaced in the upcoming Superman: Legacy film:

“I saw that they were testing, doing different screen tests, but I don’t know who got it, but it seemed like everyone was super legit and talented and, like, great,” Gadot told ComicBook.com. “So I’m happy for them. It’s such a huge take-on and it’s such an exciting beginning to any actor, and I wish whoever it’s going to be the best of luck and enjoy the ride.”

It’s unclear if Gal Gadot and David Corenswet will cross paths in the new DC Universe. Unlike with Henry Cavill where Wonder Woman met Clark Kent in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League, there are currently no plans for a team-up film following Superman: Legacy or Wonder Woman 3, though it’s entirely possible one is announced in the future.

A new era for the DC Universe

James Gunn and Peter Safran now in charge of DC’s film, television and animations efforts at Warner Bros. Discovery, bringing the company’s comic book-related assets under one roof. Gunn is said to be focusing on the creative direction of the DCU while Safran is handling things that are related to business and production.

Blue Beetle and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom are currently in various stages of post-production at Warner Bros. Discovery, with both DC Universe movies slated to hit theaters in 2023. Will the characters from those movies make appearances in the new DCU? Only Gunn and Safran know.
