It seems as though even Matthew Vaughn is excited for Deadpool 3. The former X-Men director claims Disney’s next superhero film will be what saves the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
It’s no secret Marvel has been on a bit of a losing streak recently, with many of its projects missing the mark with critics and even at the box office. This puts all eyes on Deadpool 3 as the only tentpole Marvel release of 2024. Luckily it seems the MCU is in good hands, with former X-Men director Matthew Vaughn teasing the “unbelievable” project awaiting fans.
“The few snippets that I know about Deadpool vs. Wolverine — or Wolverine vs. Deadpool, I’m sure that argument between Ryan and Hugh is happening as we speak — are unbelievable,” Vaughn told BroBible.com. “That’s going to be the jolt… the Marvel universe is about to have a jolt of them and it’s going to bring that body back to life. I think Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are about to save the whole Marvel universe.”
Deadpool 3 seems set up to be a true love letter to the old X-Men universe (though sadly not the films Matthew Vaughn himself directed). While many fans have bristled at the new direction of the MCU, this film will hopefully unite both sides of the aisle by bringing them something familiar, while also being wholly new. Let’s just hope it succeeds for Marvel’s sake!
