Is Henry Cavill actually coming back as Superman?
Anyone reading this article is likely familiar with the Snyderverse movement – an attempt to bring Zack Snyder back to the DC Universe and finish out his story for Henry Cavill’s Superman and the rest of the Justice League. This push takes many forms, from a comic book adaptation to a full reset of the DC Universe, to even Netflix running a tangential franchise focusing solely on the Snyderverse.
The movement has had its ebbs and flows ever since Zack Snyder parted with the DC Universe, but the recent months have been rather quiet. That all changed this past weekend when Snyder posted a new image of Henry Cavill from the production of Batman v Superman, simply stating that “Henry Cavill is Superman.”
Is Henry Cavill Back As Superman?
Many believe that this post from Zack Snyder is confirmation that Henry Cavill’s return as Superman is officially in the works, thus meaning that a Snyderverse revival may be just around the corner. However, when looking at his Instagram, Snyder has been posting an absolute flood of pictures from his prior projects, primarily from his 2017 film The Last Photograph.
This likely means the image of Henry Cavill as Superman isn’t meant to herald in a new era of the Snyderverse. Rather, Zack Snyder was cleaning out his camera roll, saw a really rad photo of Henry Cavill, and decided to post it for his fans to see. Though with Snyder now officially on Instagram, it’s also possible this was done to deliberately get attention for an upcoming announcement.
