Zack Snyder revealed he wanted to give Superman his classic mullet look after his resurrection in Justice League.

As most comic readers will know, when Superman returns after his fight with Doomsday, he comes back rocking a stylish black suit alongside a mullet hairstyle which would’ve shown how long he’d been dead for. And since Zack Snyder’s Justice League adapted Superman’s resurrection following his Doomsday battle, many wondered if we’d get to see Henry Cavill with a questionable hairstyle. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the case. But the director recently revealed that he tried to persuade Warner Bros. to let him do it.

During a conversation with Tyrone Magnus on YouTube, Zack Snyder discussed the Superman mullet. The filmmaker confessed that he was actually an advocate for the hairstyle, but because this was when his infamous conflict with Warner Bros. was heating up, Snyder decided to let it go. The director also explained that he was glad they were able to figure out how to recolor the red and blue suit into the classic monochrome design. Take a look below.

“We actually talked about it a lot, and I was a slight advocate — a little bit, for the mullet — but I think that there was no way to go back from that and at the time the studio was really leaning on me pretty hard. There was just … I was lucky to be able to figure it out, so I could get the black suit … I had done a lot of research before, so we knew how to turn the color suit black. “

Do you think Zack Snyder should’ve fought harder to give Superman the classic mullet in Justice League? What do you make of the Snyder Cut? Sound-off in the comments below!

Here is the official synopsis for the Snyder Cut:

“In ZACK SNYDER’S JUSTICE LEAGUE, determined to ensure Superman’s (Henry Cavill) ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) aligns forces with Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions. The task proves more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must face the demons of their own pasts to transcend that which has held them back, allowing them to come together, finally forming an unprecedented league of heroes. Now united, Batman (Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and The Flash (Ezra Miller) may be too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad and Darkseid and their dreadful intentions.”

Directed by Zack Snyder, Justice League stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, J. K. Simmons, and Ciarán Hinds.
